Unified Engineering Safety Solutions
Our safety solutions packages make it easy and cost effective to bring your machinery up to code. Unified Engineering’s application engineers carry out on-site consultation, install safety-related controls and guarding, and complete Pre-Start Health and Safety Reviews.
Pre-Start Health and Safety Reviews
The Ministry of Labour in Ontario requires all engineering and workplace development projects to comply with provincial legislation, and to be examined by a qualified Professional Engineer (April 2001 Section 7 - Regulation For Industrial Establishments). This examination is known as a Pre-Start Health and Safety Review (PSR), and is required for the installation of OEM equipment, and fabrication of new and/or modified production machinery. A PSR is a report that is written to identify the hazards and non-compliances of a particular piece of machinery or process in a factory or industrial establishment. It will typically include this list of ‘safety deficiencies’, if any, along with recommendations on how to correct them. The PSR must be signed by a Professional Engineer.
Safety Features
Safety-related upgrades typically include hardware such as emergency stop, PLC, two-hand control, safety relays, safety valves, light curtains, physical guarding, and mechanical devices such as safety ratchets and ram blocks. All devices and their installation must meet or exceed the applicable standards.
Increased Functionality
The programmable system control packages meet the Category 4 safety designation and are specifically designed to improve functionality and extend the safe operating life of existing industrial machinery. Benefits include:
